About the Larry vs Harry Bullitt
The Bullitt is the cargo bike that built the modern category. Designed in Copenhagen in 2008 by Hans Bullitt Fogh and Lars Engström, it took the workmanlike Long John design and reimagined it as a fast, light, sporty cargo bike — aluminum frame, hydraulic disc brakes, drop-bar-friendly geometry.
Twenty-plus thousand Bullitts later, it remains the benchmark for what a front-loader can be. Owners describe the ride as "more bike than truck" — you can sprint a Bullitt across an intersection loaded with two kids and feel like you're on a road bike.
Why the Bullitt
- Hand-welded 7005-T6 aluminum — stiff, light, durable, hand-built in Taiwan
- 11.5 kg (~25 lb) framekit — frame, fork and kickstand; among the lightest in its class
- Rated to 180 kg (≈396 lb) max total weight — two kids, surfboards, a week of groceries, work cargo
- Sport-bike handling — short wheelbase relative to capacity, quick steering
- Modular build — order it as a framekit or as a complete build kit, speced and assembled by us
- 20+ accessories — kid bench, rain canopy, sideboards, lockable lid, surf rack
- Community and resale — Bullitt holds its value better than nearly any cargo bike
Who it's for
Riders who want their cargo bike to feel like a real bike. Urban commuters who need to occasionally haul. Parents with two kids and dropoff routines. People who've ridden other cargo bikes and felt the handling was clunky.

FAQ
Why is it called the Bullitt?
The bike is named after Hans Fogh's middle name, which itself was a nod to the 1968 Steve McQueen film. The name signals what the design aims for: a cargo bike that moves like a fast car.
Framekit vs complete build kit — which should I get?
Get the complete build kit if you want it ready to ride. Get the framekit if you have specific component preferences (drop bars, custom drivetrain, dynamo lighting), already have parts, or want to build it up over time. The framekit includes dropouts in your choice of thru-axle or QR — just leave a note at checkout telling us which you'd like. Framekit builds run cheaper to start but typically cost more once you spec out all the components.
Is the Bullitt available with electric assist?
Larry vs Harry sells e-Bullitt configurations with mid-drive systems (Bosch, Shimano EP8, or Bafang). Or we can convert a standard Bullitt for you in-shop with either a hub-drive or mid-drive system. Contact us for e-Bullitt availability and conversion pricing.
How is the Bullitt different from a longtail cargo bike (like a Yuba or RadWagon)?
The Bullitt is a front-loader: cargo sits in front of the rider on a low platform. Longtails put cargo behind the rider on an extended rear rack. Front-loaders handle large/awkward cargo better and you can see your passengers, but they're longer overall. Longtails are easier to park and ride more like a regular bike. Different tools, different priorities.
Will it fit through doorways and on bike racks?
The Bullitt is about 95–100 inches long. Standard doorways are fine; some bike racks won't accommodate it.
How heavy is a Bullitt fully loaded?
The framekit (frame, fork, kickstand) is 11.5 kg (~25 lb); a complete build lands around 70 lb. Larry vs Harry rates the Bullitt to a maximum total weight of 180 kg — roughly 396 lb of bike, rider, and cargo combined. Hydraulic disc brakes and a low center of gravity make that manageable, but you'll feel the load on long climbs without e-assist.
